Bethany's Women’s Volleyball team played Thursday night against W&J in what turned out to be a tough and intense battle between the two teams. Each match was a close fight, but Bethany came out victorious after winning all three sets (27-25, 25-15, 25-20), making them 1-0 in the Athletic Conference and 8-3 overall.

In the first set Bethany led 14-12 but W&J responded back with 5 straight points. W&J  was about to win the set when a service error and a timeout kept Bethany in the game. A block then tied the set until Taylor Cassidy had two straight kills, and a hitting error gave Bethany the win 27-25.

The second set was tied at 12-12 until two kills by Cassidy and an ace by Katie Kurtz boosted Bethany’s momentum and started a 4-0 streak. With Bethany in control, 4 out of 6 of the final points for the set were won with kills by Jordan Fenner, and a game finisher by Lauren Goodwill closed out the 25-15 win of the set and 2-0 lead.

In the final set the score was even until halfway through the set when Megan Beebe started a 7-0 run. W&J managed to catch up within 1 point, but kills by Goodwill and Fenner and an ace by Kelly Becquet ended the match and gained the victory over W&J.

Jessica Zauatchen was recognized for surpassing 4,000 assists. During the game she turned 28 assists into 11 digs. Cassidy was the top hitter of the night with a total of 11 kills and 3 aces. Beebe contributed to the win with 5 blocks, and Becquet and Julia Mouch both had 11 digs.
