The Bethany College lacrosse team faced off against top Division III lacrosse team Otterbein University February 23.

Seven seconds into the game, Otterbein won the faceoff and scored the game’s first goal. Otterbein used the momentum from the first goal and went on to score 22 straight goals, broken up by sophomore midfielder Trey Moore, who led the team in goals last year; he scored the Bison’s only goal of the game late in the fourth quarter.

Although the team lost (24-1), the team played hard and the effort was consistent throughout the game and gave 110%. Junior Midfielder K.C. Lindley laid a hard hit in the second quarter on an opposing Otterbein Midfielder, showing the team’s will to compete the whole game. Junior Defensemen Dylan Radwanski led the game with 4 ground balls, followed by freshmen defensemen Aaron Bynum and junior goalie CJ Studnicky who had 3 ground balls each. Freshmen defenseman Matt Chicioine had two groundballs on the day but five pass interceptions to help disrupt the fast-paced Otterbein offense. Studnicky had 9 saves on the day, after Otterbein’s quick and experience offense exploded for a total of 56 shots on the day.

The team will use the momentum of a hard-fought game next week when they take on St. Vincent lacrosse team Saturday March 2 at St. Vincent’s home.

UPDATE:  The lacrosse team lost to St. Vincent, 29-3, on March 2, making them 0-2 on the season.
