The Bethany College Swimming and Diving team left the PAC Championships with one of the most successful showings there in many years. Overall the Bison finished 7th out of a total 11 teams this weekend, and 6th among PAC teams at the Championships.

Junior Marina Baker broke a total of 10 records at the Championships, including the 200 breast stroke, 100 free stroke, and the 400 free relay that also included senior Melissa Davis, freshman Alexi Plyes and freshman Taylor Jacobs.

Plyes went on to break the 100 fly sroke record, and Jacobs broke the 200 free stroke. The 400 free relay team went on to break the 800 free relay as well.

On the men’s team, Stephan Gaydos was the standout swimmer and broke the 1,650 free stroke record.

Sophomore Brandon Martell and junior Kayla Spinelli made up the diving team, both of them for the first time this year. Spinelli finished 10th on both the 1m and 3m diving, while Martell finished 5th on the 3m and 6th on the 1m.

The record-breaking weekend was a strong  finish for senior Melissa Davis, who has spent four years on the team. Head Coach David Dow and Assistant Coach Heather Fairchild will build off this season's success in the next year.
